• You can use a washcloth and apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto the oil stain directly.  You must prefer to blot the oil stain rather than wiping because it can spread the stains onto other areas of carpets. 

• Mix one-fourth teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with one quart of water. Make sure that the dishwasher is not containing bleach or lanolin and is a brand.

• Apply the dishwashing liquid and water mixture with a sponge directly on the area affected by oil stain. Blot the area which is affected until the oil stain is completely removed.

Method 2

Your carpets can also fell victim to another oil stains like motor oil. It is very easy to track motor oil right onto your carpet and when this happens you should know the methods to remove the oil stains from carpets quickly.

• You can scrape the excess oil using a blunt knife or butter knife. But do not press the knife so hard as you do not want to have any further damage to your carpets.

• Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda on the motor stain, you can also replace baking soda with starch if possible.

• Let this settle over the stain for about 15 to 20 minutes. And after this time vacuum the stain completely. 

• Take a clean cloth and apply dry cleaning solvent on it and then apply cloth directly over the motor oil stain. This will be a good solution for removing motor oil stains from the carpet. 

• Use another cloth to blot the stain and if still there is oil stain visible then make a solution by mixing warm water, white vinegar, and liquid dishwashing detergent. 

• Using a sponge work the solution on the remaining residue of oil stain. 

In the last rinse the area with cold water and let it dry naturally or vacuum it. By using all these methods oil stains should not be longer visible.
